Republican Congressman Chris Jacobs is facing opposition in his own party for his statements last week in support of some gun control measures.
He is running this year in the new 23rd district -- which extends from Erie County across the Southern Tier.
The Olean Times Herald reports at least one county chair in the district has withdrawn his endorsement of Jacobs. And state Republican Chair Nick Langworthy reportedly has emerged as a challenger to Jacobs in the August party primary.
