Governor Hochul has formally signed the Adult Survivors Act.
The new law suspends the statute of limitations for people who were sexually abused as adults to sue their abusers.
Plaintiffs will have one year to bring their claims.
The state Assembly gave final legislative approval to the bill yesterday.
The legislation is similar to the Child Victims Act, which allowed people who were victimized as children to bring sex abuse claims years after they were abused.
