Challenge Denied to New Assembly District Maps

A lawsuit challenging the new state Assembly districts has been shot down.

State Supreme Court Judge Patrick McAllister has denied a bid by the New York Republican Club to invalidate the new Assembly maps.

The suit also sought to move the Assembly primaries to August 23rd, the same date as the state Senate and congressional primaries.

In his decision, Judge McAllister agrees the Assembly maps are flawed, but the problem can't be fixed in time for this year's elections.

It's not clear if the ruling will be appealed.
