Rochester Police have arrested a man a homicide on Mother's Day. Police say Jan Perez, 46, of Rochester was found lying in the street Sunday on North Plymouth Avenue with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Justin Singleton was charged with Perez's murder. They say the investigation shows the murder is connected to the illegal gun trade. Singleton is a parolee who police say is prohibited from legally possessing a weapon due to prior four felony and two misdemeanor convictions. He was released from prison on April 15th of this year. Shortly before the homicide police were called to Pierpont Street. They found a 19-year-old man shot at least once in the upper body. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police are interviewing a person of interest in that case.
