The Monroe County Legislature and County Executive Adam Bello have signed off on a temporary reduction in the county's gas tax.
Bello first announced on WHAM 1180 the move to collect taxes only on the first $2 in the price of a gallon of gas.
With gas prices above $4 per gallon, the move essentially cuts the county's tax on gas purchases by more than half.
The tax reduction goes into effect on June 1st, alongside the state gas tax suspension.
