Rochester Police are investigating an armed carjacking overnight Thursday. Police say a taxi driver was the victim of a carjacking at gunpoint. Police say the suspect fired his gun at the 33-year-old male driver, but he was not hit. Investigators say the suspect then fled in the victim's cab. Officers say they later spotted the stolen taxi on Lake Avenue and pursued it. Police terminated the chase after the suspect was driving at an extremely high rate of speed. Soon after, Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies spotted the stolen taxi on Route 31 in Sweden. Police say the vehicle drove off the road into a field, the suspect jumped out and attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested.
