Morgan Takes Plea Deal, May Avoid Jail

Area developer Robert Morgan reportedly has pleaded guilty today in a federal fraud case, and may not be going to jail at all.

As first reported by the D&C, the plea could end the investigation into allegations he defrauded mortgage lenders by inflating the value of his real estate holdings.

There's no jail time for Morgan in the plea agreement, but the judge could choose to reject the deal.

Morgan will be formally sentenced in July.

Three co-defendants, including Morgan's son Todd, pleaded guilty last week to misdemeanor bank larceny and will avoid jail time.
