Report: Hochul Claims No Awareness of Benjamin Finance Subpoenas

Governor Hochul says she didn't know -- before she named Brian Benjamin as her lieutenant governor -- that the Manhattan DA had subpoenaed records from his failed campaign for New York City Comptroller.

She said yesterday she was unaware of the subpoenas that were first reported last week by the New York Daily News.

The DA's investigation was suspended while federal investigators also looked at Benjamin's campaign donations.

A Benjamin ally was charged in November with arranging phony donations to make Benjamine eligible for public matching funds.
