New Info Released on Sgt. Williams

The City of Rochester has released new information on Rochester Police Sgt Melvin Williams...who became a person of interest in a State Police homicide investigation.

On March 14th, troopers were looking for Sgt Williams in connection with the shooting death of 911 dispatcher Janet Jordan in her Rochester Home. Williams was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at Veterans Park in Henrietta.

The records released by the city show that Williams was a good officer by all accounts, entering the police academy in 2007 and working his way up through the ranks.

State police have not released any information about a connection between Williams and Jordan, or why they labeled him a person of interest in her death.
