RPD Investigating Two Shootings/Carjackings

Rochester police say two people were shot in two separate attempted carjackings and robberies Tuesday night. The first incident happened around 7:40 p.m. on Parkside Avenue. Police were after a ShotSpotter activation. Investigators learned a 20-year-old woman had been shot and taken to the hospital. Her car had been stolen. The neighborhood was in lockdown during the investigation. The woman is expected to survive.

Investigators say police were called to another scene at Varden and Richland Streets around 11:30 p.m., where they found a 26-year-old shooting victim. Police say he was shot during an attempted carjacking, but in this case, the suspects were not able to take the car. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
