Six state correctional facilities are closing today.
They include the minimum-security work-release facility on Ford Street.
The Willard Drug Treatment Campus in Seneca County also is on the list.
The others are medium- and maximum-security prisons in St. Lawrence, Chemung, Dutchess, and Essex counties.
Inmates have been moved to other prisons that match their security or health classifications. Others have been granted parole and some will complete their sentences under supervision from home.
The state's incarcerated population continues to shrink.
