New Tax Proposed on Ammunition

Gun owners are objecting to a proposed new tax on the sale of ammunition.

The bill is pending in the state Senate and would put an excise tax on ammunition of 2 to 5 cents per round.

The revenue would pay for gun violence research by the state health department and SUNY.

Gun store owners say the tax would roughly double the sale price of ammunition, and they call the tax a direct attack on gun rights.
