New York's COVID-19 Evictions Ban is Over and Thousands May Get Evicted

City and County officials together put nearly $45 million of federal aid into preventing local tenants from being evicted during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Now that those programs are ending, they say there are still ways of helping people faced with eviction notices.

Jennifer Lake of Goodwill says the 211 number connects you with all available programs that can help prevent eviction and even legal representation from one of four local agencies.

The Tenant Defense Project says there were 9,000 eviction cases pending in Rochester before the pandemic, it's not clear what the numbers are now.

Mayor Malik D. Evans will join Deputy County Executive Corinda Crossdale and leaders from Goodwill of the Finger Lakes/211 Lifeline and the Tenant Defense Project to highlight support services available to tenants at risk of eviction now that the pandemic moratorium has been lifted.
