Mayor Evans Says Fighting Gunshots Into Homes Takes Citizen Involvement

Rochester Mayor Malik Evans says it will take a two-pronged approach to lick the problem of gunshots being fired into city homes...

The mayor says there are three main causes of these incidents: people involved in drugs or other illicit activities, grudges that turn into gunfire, and people who accidentally get caught in a crossfire between the first two groups. He says solving it starts with people's willingness to talk with police and give investigators the information they need to solve the crimes. Second, police need to do their utmost to choke off the flow of illegal guns into the city.

Shots have been fired into half-a-dozen Rochester houses since the weekend, injuring two people.
