Joint Commission on Public Ethics Has Issued a Subpoena

The state's Joint Commission on Public Ethics has subpoenaed records from the governor's office about the so-called volunteers who helped coordinate former Governor Cuomo's response to the coronavirus.

Cuomo granted those consultants an exemption from rules requiring state officials to file financial disclosures and banning them from getting gifts from people seeking state business.

As first reported by the Albany Times Union, the subpoenas are seeking a list of people deemed "volunteers" and those with a conflict of interest.

They include Larry Schwartz, who was named by Cuomo to oversee distribution of COVID vaccines. He is a former Cuomo aide and is an executive with an airport concessions company.
