Rochester, NY -- The new Monroe County budget has been approved and signed.
The County Legislature added two amendments.
One raises pay and adds staff in the Legislative offices. The other adds three assistant district attorney positions at the District Attorney's Office.
The 1.2-billion dollar budget raises the minimum wage for county workers to 15 dollars an hour.
And the county property tax rate will drop by 7 cents -- to the lowest rate since 2003.
It was approved by a vote of 27 to 2.
Meantime, the Legislature has given final approval to new contracts with deputies and command staff at the County Sheriff's Office.
Both groups will see raises of 3-and-a-quarter percent in 2022 and 2-and-a-quarter percent in years two and three.
The Command Staff agreement runs an additional two years, with 2 percent raises in years four and five.
