Governor Hochul has announced 2-million dollars of additional funding to help Afghan evacuees.
Hochul says the money will go toward a variety of needs including medical care, mental health, language skills, job training, and cultural competence training.
The money will be distributed to nonprofit groups helping the refugees that are coming to New York during the next few months, including approximately 275 who are scheduled to arrive in Rochester.
The new funding brings the state's total commitment to 5-million dollars.
