A published report says Samsung has decided not to put its $17 billion microchip plant at the STAMP campus in Genesee County.
The Wall Street Journal reports Samsung has decided to locate the plant in Taylor, Texas, and the formal announcement will be made later today.
Samsung, however, says it has not made a final decision on a site.
Taylor became a leading contender in September when local authorities approved tax rebates and a land purchase deal.
Senator Schumer and others have been trying to lure Samsung to New York state. A site in Arizona also has been in the running.
