One of the prosecution witnesses in the George Moses trial has recanted his previous claim that he paid kickbacks to Moses in exchange for contracting work.
As first reported by the D&C the new testimony from contractor Francis Cardinell will likely lead to the dismissal of some of the charges against Moses. Cardinell could be charged with perjury.
Moses is the former chairman of the Rochester Housing Authority and is on trial for allegedly pocketing money from the Authority's charitable branch, and from a neighborhood nonprofit, he ran.
The trial began last month in federal court.
