RCS Superintendent Myers-Small Outlines Steps to Reduce Violence In School

Rochester City School Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small is outlining steps to improve student conduct and reduce violence in the schools.

Some have already been taken and others are in progress.

In an open letter, Myers-Small says one focus is on increased supervision in buildings and for student arrivals and dismissals, and other times when disruptions are frequent.

The steps also include revising the student code of conduct, boosting mental health support for students and staff, and holding virtual "support circles" for staff.

Security mobile units are standing by for immediate responses to trouble, and lockdown buttons have been installed at several schools.
