Democrats have retained every city on the Rochester City Council, and Malik Evans has formally declared victory in the mayor's contest.
Evans quoted The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and called on citizens to join him in doing their best for Rochester.
The city council will have two new members. Kim Smith and Stanley Martin were elected, along with three incumbents, Willie Lightfoot, Mitch Gruber, and Miguel Melendez.
In the school board races, Cynthia Elliott, James Patterson, and Camille Simmons were elected to the three seats on the ballot.
