Case of Officer Denny Wright Delayed Again

It's been nearly two years since Rochester Police Officer Denny Wright was blinded by an assailant while on the job.

Today, the case against Defendant Keith Williams remains on hold. He was to decide today if he would accept a plea offer, but instead asked for a second attorney to review the offer, which was granted by the court. Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley said that's something she hasn't seen in 30 years as a prosecutor.

Wright was stabbed in the face by Williams and lost his eyesight while responding to a domestic disturbance on Peck Street in October of 2019. Williams was to plead guilty and receive a 25-year-prison sentence. The case has been repeatedly delayed by COVID and by the defendant's mental health status.
