Attorney General Letitia James Running for Governor

New York Attorney General Letitia James is running for governor.

James tweeted she's running to be the next governor of New York "because she has the experience, vision and courage to take on the powerful on behalf of all New Yorkers." The attorney general has gotten a lot of attention for investigating former President Trump and launching an inquiry into sexual misconduct allegations that took down Governor Andrew Cuomo.

James is the first woman elected as New York's attorney general and the first Black person to serve in the role. James would be the nation's first Black female governor if she makes it through the Democratic primary against current Governor Kathy Hochul and other potential Democratic candidates.
