The sheriff who brought sex assault charges against Andrew Cuomo says he has a lot of evidence against the former New York governor. Cuomo is accused of forcible touching by grabbing a woman's breast in December of last year at the governor's mansion.
Craig Apple, the Sheriff of Albany County said the alleged victim "wants justice." The complaint points to evidence including text messages, phone calls and state police records. Apple denied the claims from Cuomo's attorneys that this is rooted in politics, saying this doesn't help or harm him politically.
Cuomo has repeatedly denied all sexual assault allegations against him.
Cuomo will appear in court next month to be formally charged. Apple says he'll be fingerprinted, but not handcuffed, and will be released on his own recognizance. The charge against the Democrat is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year behind bars or three years probation.
