Two Local Men Still Jailed Pending Trial For January 6th Capitol Riot

A Parma man who is facing charges in the January 6th U.S. Capitol riot will remain behind bars until his trial......

A judge ruled after a detention hearing in federal court that Cody Mattice should be detained because of the nature of his crime and the risk to the community if he were set free.

The judge's order says Mattice "enthusiastically participated in the mob attack...in which many people including police officers suffered grievous injury."

His arrest order said Mattice was in a restricted area and impeded Capitol police from doing their job. He was arrested early October 7th at the family home in Parma.

Meantime, another area suspect in the Capitol attack also will stay in federal custody until his trial.

A judge has declined to reconsider his previous ruling in the case of Dominic Pezzola of Rochester.

Pezzola is a member of the Proud Boys. He is accused of stealing a Capitol Police riot shield and using it to smash in a window of the Capitol Building, an action seen on video.

The ruling by Judge Timothy Kelly means Pezzola will probably spend the rest of the year in jail.
