State Lawmakers Push Decriminalization of Prostitution

State lawmakers are pushing legislation that would decriminalize prostitution.

Two different bills are pending. One would also decriminalize patronizing a prostitute, while the other would increase the penalties for patrons and pimps.

Governor Hochul acknowledged to an online news outlet last week that she is talking with supporters of the proposals.

And a new appointee to her administration has been an advocate for decriminalization -- and for providing sick pay to the workers.
