Rochester Records 52nd Homicide of 2021, Surpassing All of 2020

The death of a woman who was assaulted and robbed in a hotel room in Rochester has been ruled a homicide by the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office.

Rochester police says this ruling in the death of Alicia Saladyga is Rochester's 52nd homicide of the year. That's equal to all the city's homicides for ALL of 2020.

Fifty-one-year-old Alicia Saladyga was attacked on April 7th at a motel on Mt. Read Boulevard. She died April 22nd at the hospital. Police have charged 34-year-old Christopher Pate and 44-year-old Jennifer Shea with assault, robbery and burglary. The Monroe County District Attorney's Office is considering whether homicide charges will be filed against the two.

At the time, Pate and Shea were out of jail on bond on another assault charge.
