Singeltary Files Lawsuit Against City, Mayor Warren

Fired Rochester Police Chief La'Ron Singletary is following up on his intention to sue the City of Rochester and Mayor Warren.

He filed a Notice of Claim in December and the suit was filed today, seeking a million dollars in damages for wrongful termination and defamation of character.

Singletary was fired by Warren last September after the public learned about the death of Daniel Prude and the encounter with officers that preceded it.

In a public deposition to City Council investigators in February, Singletary disputed Warren's claim he failed to keep her informed about the Prude case. And he said Warren directed him to omit details about what he had told her.

The City of Rochester immediately fired back with a slam against Singletary and the Rochester Police Department, saying "there has been a legacy in the Rochester Police Department of untruthfulness....Mr. Singletary failed in his duties as Chief and was rightfully terminated due to those failures.
