More Help For Monroe County Tenants, Landlords

The state eviction moratorium expires Tuesday, August 31, but Monroe County and the City of Rochester still have relief money available to keep people in their homes.

Tenants facing eviction or landlords facing financial losses can call 2-1-1 to be pre-screened for the emergency rental assistance program.

The program has handed out around $16 million since it began in March.

Grants averaging $4,800 have been provided to 3,500 households

The relief is targeted toward low-income households with loss of income related to the pandemic.

Funding comes from the stimulus bill that passed late last year and the American Rescue Plan that passed in March.
