NYS Education Department Still Working on COVID Guidelines for School Year

The State Education Department says the governor's office and the state Health Department are still working on COVID health and safety guidelines for the upcoming school year.

In a letter to local districts, the education department says until those rules are announced, schools should follow the recommendations of the federal Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The department did say it believes students should take their classes in-person. But, officials say schools should be ready to offer remote learning if a public health emergency is declared.
