State Republican Leaders Back Zeldin

Republican leaders from across New York are getting behind Long Island congressman Lee Zeldin's candidacy for governor.

County Replublican chairs and state committee members met yesterday near Albany for a closed-door straw poll.

Zeldin got 85 percent of the weighted vote. Former West Chester County Executive Rob Astorino got 5 percent. And 10 percent abstained.

The other candidates are Andrew Giuliani -- the son of Rudy Giuliani -- and Lewis County Sheriff Mike Carpinelli.
