Use of Deadly Force by Rochester Police On Avenue D Under Investigation

The state attorney general's office is beginning an investigation into the use of deadly force by Rochester police Friday night on Avenue D.

A police SWAT team had been tailing a man wanted for attempted murder other violent crimes. When they moved in to arrest him, police say the man fired at officers and two officers fired back.

The man's name has not been released.

SWAT officers do not usually carry body cameras, and community activists say they should.

There is cell-phone video circulating of the foot chase, and police are looking for any available security camera video in the neighborhood.
