State Dropping School, Camp Mask Requirement

Governor Andrew Cuomo says New York is planning changes to its statewide mask policy within schools and summer camps.

Effective Monday, masks would be encouraged indoors but not required, and that applies to students, staff members, teachers, and camp counselors. Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker wrote a letter to the CDC asking if there's any science that would contradict this policy, and apparently there is none.

The state plans to defer to individual schools and camps, should they decide to maintain more strict mask requirements.
