The woman who triggered an ethics investigation into Monroe County Legislator Ernest Flagler-Mitchell wants him to resign, and she wants stronger ethics reform policies for county lawmakers.
Lakaya Sinclair spoke out in a news conference this morning after the County Ethics Board voted that Flagler-Mitchell violated the current ethics standard when he sent her an explicit photo by text. She was 19 at the time, and says although she's the only woman who spoke out about Flagler-Mitchell, she knows she's not alone.
Sinclair pointed out that the ethics report by an outside legal counsel found Flagler-Mitchell had sent inappropriate texts to 11 other women, making it clear she was not alone. She said says this incident did not happen to Flagler-Mitchell, it happened to her.
