Activists Seek Tougher Laws Against Reckless Drivers

Rallying with a symbolic casket, families of people killed in traffic crashes met in downtown Rochester to call for tougher state laws against reckless driving.

They're pushing for the state legislature to adopt a package of traffic safety bills before they adjourn for the summer next week. Bobbie Covell of Rochester told of losing her son to a drunk driver as he was struck while riding his bike in New York City.

She says a court suspended the drunk driver's license for just 60 days...but her son is still dead.
