New York is announcing COVID-19 guidelines for child care and summer camps

The rules require child care centers, day camps, and overnight camps to set capacity limits to allow for social distancing.

Unvaccinated staff members are expected to keep six feet away from others.

The state says facilities and programs must collect COVID vaccination status and documentation for all staff and children, implement mandatory daily health screenings, limit capacity to ensure appropriate social distancing and require face masks for any children over the age of two and any staff members who are NOT fully vaccinated.

The new state guidelines also say that child care facilities and summer camps must notify the state and local health department if any staff member or child tests positive for COVID-19.

The rules come as the state is reporting the lowest statewide testing positivity rate since September 27th.
