Mayor Fires Back, Calling Husband's Arrest "Political"

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren says the arrest of her husband, Timothy Grannison, as part of a cocaine distribution ring, is clearly political and aimed at knocking her out of her re-election campaign. The mayor says the timing of the arrest shows her political opponents will go to any length to break her, but she will persevere and win re-election.

In a brief appearance at City Hall, Mayor Warren called the timing of the raids that led to Grannison's arrest "highly suspicious." Warren says political opponents saw momentum building for her re-election despite state campaign finance violation charges against her. She says if this is not about politics, then why is her husband's next court date June 21st, the day before she faces City Councilman Malik Evans in a Democratic Party primary for the mayoral nomination?

Grannison's lawyer asked for a 30-day break before the hearing because he's acting in another case out of state. The judge then set the court date for the 21st of June.
