Senator Kirsten Gillibrand Wants to Make School Meals Program Permanent

Her bill would create a Universal School Meals program, to provide free school meals for all students.

The bill would make permanent the emergency relief program created for the pandemic that is scheduled to end after the next school year.

The bill would eliminate school meal debt, encouraging the use of local foods in school meal programs, and provide free breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack to all school children, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
