The Town of Greece's Memorial Day Parade is Back On

The Town of Greece has pulled a 180 on its decision this week to cancel its Memorial Day Parade because of COVID-19.

In a news conference this afternoon, Supervisor Bill Reilich says after widespread reaction to yesterday's announcement canceling the annual parade and ceremony, it's back on.

Reilich and American Legion Post 468 Commander George Dadson Jr. had announced their decision to cancel the parade yesterday because of uncertainty over state and federal regulations due to the pandemic. But Reilich says Greece residents were "gravely disappointed" by the decision, leading both men to reconsider if the event could be pulled together safely in such a short time.

The answer was "it could." Reilich says the parade will begin Monday, May 31st at 11:00 a.m. with the memorial service at 11:45.
