New York state agencies spent a record $850 million dollars for overtime last year.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says state workers logged 19 million overtime hours.
Earnings rose more than 5% over the previous year.
Total hours were up nearly 4%.
Overtime was nearly 5% of the entire state payroll.
Most of the overtime was paid to the corrections department and the offices of Mental Health and People with Developmental Disabilities.
