SCOTUS to Hear NY Concealed Carry Case

The Supreme Court will hear a case challenging the New York State law the strictly limits who can carry a concealed handgun outside the home.

NBC News legal analyst Pete Williams says the court has avoided the issue since the landmark ruling in 2008 that the Second Amendment provides an individual right to keep a handgun at home for self-defense.

To carry a concealed gun outside the home in New York, a resident must provide proof of a special need beyond self-protection.
