Mayor Lovely Warren Says There is Help For People Struggling to Pay Rent

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren says there is help for tenants in the city who area struggling to pay rent as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

She says the moratorium on evictions has hidden the seriousness of the problem.

Warren says Rochester and Monroe County have received almost 40 million dollars in additional federal stimulus funding to help prevent evictions and homelessness in the community.

Mayor Warren says the money is available to qualified tenants based on income and if they have already received an eviction notice or if they are dealing with financial hardships like a cut in pay or the loss of a job.

Those who qualify can call 211 for help.
