Pittsford Schools Attacked for "Insensitive" Slavery Worksheet

The Pittsford Central School District is apologizing for what it calls an insensitive school worksheet on slavery during colonial times.

The district says they were made aware of the worksheet this morning by a concerned parent.

A statement from Superintendent Michael Pero says the worksheet was used in a fourth-grade class lesson back in January, but is in no way an accurate depiction of slavery during Colonial Times.

He says district officials have met with the staff members involved and will re-teach the topic of slavery during Colonial Times and remove the worksheet from student notebooks while providing correct and factual information on the subject.
