Authorities say a parole absconder wanted on an outstanding warrant, was shot by a member of the New York State Police inside a home on Fairbanks Street today.
U.S. Marshal Charles Salina says the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force was looking for a man in his 30's who had violated his parole.
Once inside the home authorities say the man grabbed a butcher knife when authorities tried to take him into custody.
New York State Police Major Barry Chase says a Trooper felt like he was threatened and fired at the parole.
The parole is in the hospital in guarded condition.
No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.
