Charges Dropped in Rochester Eviction Protest

Charges have reportedly been dropped for all 18 people arrested during a December protest against the eviction of a renter on Glasgow Street.

Those arrested included the tenant, Clianda Florence-Yarde, and State Assemblyman Demond Meeks.

They appeared at a rally yesterday in support of proposed state reforms for housing, health care, and criminal justice.

At the December protest, Florence-Yarde had claimed her landlord didn't address poor living conditions at the apartment.

Her landlord said she hadn't paid rent in more than a year, had dogs in violation of the lease, and reneged on a deal she made in court to move out.
