Hidden Recording Fails in Warren Campaign Probe

An attempt by investigators to secretly record one of the players in the Lovely Warren campaign finance scandal reportedly went south, because of a dead battery.

13WHAM reports the battery in the hidden recorder died while investigators from the District Attorney's office were talking last July with Albert Jones, Jr. -- the treasurer for Warren's 2017 campaign.

At a hearing yesterday, the investigator testified that Jones admitted the campaign was looking for a way for donors to get around donation limits.

The statement, however, did not get recorded.

A judge will have to decide whether the statement can be admitted as evidence at the September trial.
