Governor Cuomo Signs Bill that Legalizes Adult Use Marijuana in NY

Governor Cuomo has signed the bill that legalizes marijuana in New York.

Both houses of the state legislature passed the bill last night.

It legalizes recreational use of marijuana and clears the records of those who have been convicted of possession.

It will be legal for adults over 21 to possess up to three ounces, plus adults can grow up to three mature plants and three immature plants -- once regulations are adopted.

State Attorney General Letitia James says legalizing marijuana "is a racial and criminal justice imperative" and she says the vote is a critical step towards a fairer and more just system.
