Warren Proposes "Reparations," Using Marijuana Revenue

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren is looking at funding what she calls "reparations" for the city's Black and Brown citizens.

She outlined the proposal in a letter to the Ibero American Action League, seeking the support of the organization.

She says the city could create a Universal Basic Income program, that she says would address inequities in the minority community and close the wealth gap.

It could be funded with revenue from taxes on the sale of legal marijuana.

Evanston, Illinois, adopted a similar program this month.
