State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie says he's authorizing the State Assembly Judiciary Committee to begin an impeachment investigation into Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Heastie says in a statement that the allegations of sexual misconduct against Governor Cuomo are serious. He says the committee will have authority to interview witnesses, subpoena documents and evaluate evidence.
He says it will not interfere with the separate investigation being run by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
