Council Seeks Immediate Discipline of Officers in Prude Case

Eight members of the Rochester City Council have signed legislation urging Mayor Lovely Warren to take immediate disciplinary action against the police officers involved in the Daniel Prude case...up to and including firing them.

The resolution has been introduced for a vote at Tuesday night's meeting. It says Rochester citizens have a right to see a conclusion in the Prude matter and to see justice served. It demands that the city administration and police chief move immediately on disciplining the six officers involved in restraining Daniel Prude when he fell unconscious. Prude later died at the hospital without waking up.

Both Council President Loretta Scott and Vice President Willie Lightfoot have signed the resolution, along with Malik Evans, Mitch Gruber, LaShay Harris, Mary Lupien, Miguel Melendez and Michael Patterson.
